A Premium Spa Franchise Idea is Born

It was 2005 and, like many people, Marty and Allison Langenderfer dreamed of owning their own business. They both had extensive business backgrounds with large, national and multi-national companies: Marty as a managing director at Travelocity and as vice president at Dish Network, and Allison as a highly successful sales professional at Eli Lilly and Company and UCB Pharma.

But something was missing from their lives: they wanted the control that only business ownership can provide. They wanted to build something that was their own, something that would give them the chance to succeed beyond their wildest dreams.

The Langenderfers looked around and saw that most “day spas” at the time were essentially the equivalent of a massage parlor. They envisioned offering customers a luxurious yet affordable service, complete with customized facials and massages that take guests out of their stressful day-to-day lives, providing a retreat from the cares of the world in total comfort.

Marty and Allison saw a great business opportunity for themselves and other entrepreneurs –an immersive, sumptuous, and affordable spa franchise concept.

Spavia Day Spa was founded in 2005 in Park Meadows, Colorado. From 2005 to 2015, various entrepreneurs from around the state approached the Langenderfers about opening their own location. Marty and Allison filed the paperwork necessary to begin franchising, believing that offering entrepreneurs a premium day spa would result in a great living for their franchisees, while providing communities around the country with a real alternative to overpriced spas.

During this time, Spavia granted their first 3 franchise locations. This franchise trial period showed proof of concept. The next step was to scale Spavia across the United States… but they weren’t quite sure how to do this.

Enter Franworth.

Once Marty and Allison felt they were ready for greater growth, they had to find the right people to help them do so. Enter the franchise development company, Franworth.

Franworth’s Leadership

Franworth’s leaders offer exceptional guidance and insight. For example, CEO and Managing Director John Rotche, who, after climbing the ranks went on to hold several executive-level positions at Domino’s Pizza, later went on to Krispy Kreme. He helped the company expand throughout the Midwest.  John also has opened several franchise companies himself, including DUCTZ, HOODZ, and TITLE Boxing Club. John founded Franworth in 2016.

 

David Barr, Franworth Partner and Managing Director, is chairman and founder of PMTD Restaurants and its affiliates, which own and operate several KFC and Taco Bell restaurants. He also serves on several boards, including the International Franchise Association.

 

Spavia Grows Exponentially in 2016, with Great Growth Expected in 2017

Spavia Day Spa experienced industry leading growth in 2016 and now has 20 locations that are open and serving guests, 14 locations currently under development, and 6 more franchises that are now under contract. That’s a total of 40 Spavia Day Spa locations across the country!

And the growth hasn’t gone unnoticed: Entrepreneur.com named Spavia to its 2017 Franchise 500, ranking overall at number 237. In addition, Entrepreneur Magazine also has named Spavia the #1 franchise with the greatest growth worldwide.
